This season, I’ve been drooling over the newest trend to hit the streets.. Foil jeans! After seeing a glimse of Fidelity Denim’s collection (here), I couldn’t help but think there HAD to be a way to get a pair of foil jeans without having to donate my organs. The artsy part of my brain said “this will be a synch!” and the more rational part of my brain said that the DIY “Do It Yourself” (cheaper) version of foil jeans would allow my bank account some happiness. So here it is, ladies & gents! I’ve created a step-by-step layout of your DIY: Foil Jeans edition. Please note: If you’re not crafty/artsy -who cares! They are YOUR jeans! The purpose is to try something new and have fun while you’re doing it. Please send me your DIYs. I LOVE finding new ways to get an awesome trend at an even awesome-er (stay with me) price! So, without further ado..
What you’ll need:
1. White Skinny jeans (Marshalls $14.99) 2. Large paint brush 3.Tulip Gold Glitter Fabric Paint 4.Folk Art Metallic Acrylic Paint (I purchased a more antique color gold, but use whatever shade you’d like!) 5.Garbage bags 6. Paper plate
First, you’ll want to make sure you cover your entire table/floor with garbage bags.
If your slightly clumsy like I am, you’ll thank yourself later. You’ll want to mix both paints evenly onto a paper plate (or whatever suites you best. I only prefer a paper plate because… i just do.)
After you mix them, make sure you don’t have globs on your brush. The thinner the amount of paint, the easier.
Next, smooth out the surface of the jeans before painting. I started from the edges (made them heavier then the rest) and worked my way in. Using small strokes at the edges and long ones on the front.
I tried to keep the paint a little heavier at the pockets and seams.. then spread the paint evenly towards the center. Of course, if you’re wanting a more LMFAO version (tons of glitter & metallic), more power to you! Just have fun! Don’t be afraid to mess up. I did plenty of times and you wouldn’t notice. Anyways, I hope this filled your little heart with gold like it did mine. Here is the end result. I’d do a “Piece by Piece” version of Foil jeans, but they’re still drying. Look out for that this week! Oh, and don’t forget to send me your version with hashtag #SocietyChic. Night, babes! xx
