Color Me Bold

Oh tweekers, I’m full of ennui at the moment. Why you may ask? Well I feel like people are afraid of color, so they decide to torture me with their drab wardrobe. I long for festive, and vibrant colors of yesteryear. Give me the cobalt blues, hit me with some canary yellow, for goodness sake slap me across the face and color me  lilac!

Anyways, as spring approaches everyone should be aware of the color storm that I predict. As evidenced in the runways, this spring is all about adding POPS of color to your style.

Colors that once were used to compliment, are now dying to be the center of focus. I’m currently living for the color yellow. Below you’ll find just a couple of ideas of how to incorporate some daring hues into your life. Just let them in and let them touch you. But, not inappropriately, I think I’ll get sued for somehow indirectly sexually harassing you. I don’t know I’m kind of fuzzy on what the laws are.

Whatever.

Let’s begin with red. I am always big on the use of red and navy together. There’s something so 80s/90’s Tommy Hilfiger/Ralph Lauren Wasp about it. Also, these combined color schemes remind me of the tablecloth my mother used to use on thanksgiving and it makes me feel safe. As you’ll note I decided to add a checkered bowtie. Everyone knows that I live for a good bowtie, and also a fun pattern to spruce things up. Take not of the leather goodies that I’ve paired up with this fresh outfit. The brown leather look kind of neutralizes the whole ensemble, and really takes the look into spring.

Next up we have the orange and blue look. As some may attest to wearing blue and orange together because of sports conflicts (I’m looking at you ‘Noles fans) it’s quite an elementary pairing. Honestly, it really is. Do y’all remember when you were little and learning the color wheel, which by the way was my toughest lesson to learn because I’m borderline colorblind and it made feel like Forest Gump. Anyways, orange and blue are opposites therefore they “go together.” I again added a fun pattern with the shirt. Polka dots are everything during the spring season. The Fedora tops the look off quite nicely and adds a touch of beach bum chic. As far as the belt and shoes I was going with a somewhat nautical theme, which again ties into the whole beach bum chic idea. The glasses are really just so people will think you’re more than just a pretty face. You’re not.

blue-orange look
Lastly we have the yellow pants. Honestly I came up with this look at 3 in the morning after not sleeping for a while and I got a little lost. At some point it looked like a bumblebee, and then somehow I ended up with big bird/paisley/biker chic. I’m not sure what I expected the end result to be, but I’m borderline in love with what it turned out to be. Again I’m big into patterns so the shirt is what does it for me. No actually it’s the leather-studded bow tie that does the trick. Or maybe it’s the biker boots? But the leather jacket is what I’m really living for. Actually it’s just a big cluster of OHMYGODTHISISAWESOME! While this look may seem a tad extreme for some, for me it’s just what the doctor prescribed to rid me of my ennui.

Well fashion tweekers, be big, be bold, be strong. Roar!

It’s 3 am.

Waffy’s First Piece-by-Piece

Hello tweekers! I’m gonna try to do a piece by piece and hopefully I don’t mess it up like I do everything else in life. So as I was perusing the online a couple of days ago I came across a photo spread that Justin Theroux did for GQ back in October.

justin-theroux-05

Pretty much he’s channeling Al Pacino in Serpico, therefore I tried to channel Justin channeling Al. Yep we’re all on first name basis.

Anywhoooooo, just a tad bit of advice for all you tweekers. When in doubt of what to wear, surf the online and find pictures of your favorite celebs and try to put together outfits that resemble theirs. Chances are you’ll have something strikingly similar already that you can work with.

sc70s

All the things I’m wearing in the picture I had stowed away in my closet just yearning to be worn.

  • Shirt: Pacsun $15
  • Jeans: Pacsun $25
  • Boots: ALDO $67
  • Belt: I don’t remember where or how I got it stop questioning me!
  • Sunglasses: H&M $5

That is all.

Thing of the Week: Boots!

Ok all you tweekers! Sorry we’re late this week on our “Thing of the Week.” I’m sure you can all understand that the holidays are a time for family and the substances that you must intake to deal with them.

Anywho let’s get this started. This week’s thing of the week is BOOTS! Yay for boots! Everyone in the world absolutely, positively must own at least ONE decent pair of boots. Boots in the winter are like the pop to the tart. Who cares if it’s still 80 degrees in FL?!! I rock boots at all times of the year.

I really just made this week’s thing boots because I just bought myself a pair of boots for my birthday, and as you all should know by now I find any reason to talk about myself. I’ve been searching for borderline a year and a half for the right pair of brown boots. I finally bought some on the online this week and they arrived two days later. Snaps for the workers at UPS!!!

Right now ALDO is having a great sale on shoes for men and women. They have 30% off instore and online. Here’s a little tidbit though there’s an online promotion code that gets you an extra 10% off! I don’t know why or how I thought of searching for a promotion code but I did and I ended up paying for less than the sticker price.

Here’s the code you put in when you check out and the link to the ALDO site:

If The Shoe Fits

Hello, loves! The cold-er air is finally here and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning pulling all of my Winter gear out of the closet. I’ve complied a list of the top 10 ‘Must-haves’  for footwear this Winter. Of course, cheaper versions are always easy to spot. So, keep on the lookout and let me know which trends you’re absolutely jumping for. I assure you’ll be happy and your toes toasty, too!

1. Two-Toned Leather Boot: This, here,  is at the top of my list! I am bound and determined to find something similar at a better price, but until then check out these classic riding boots by Aldo, from Nordstrom, where you can by here.

2. Moccasin/Loafer Cognac Wedges: Work-approved and polished, these wedges stand above the rest! I recently bought a black pair by BCBG, however, these are too cute to pass up. Especially because ALDO is extending their 30% off until today! I know, you can thank me later!

3. Rain Boots: Look, I live in Florida. It happens, okay? Rain or shine, these chic little boots will be sure to keep your feet warm & dry! I absolutely LOVE the lace up, it brings a little niche to the modern rain boot that I just can’t get over. While these are fairly pricey, I’ve seen several look-a-likes at gojane.com. These, by Lucky Brand,  you can find at Bloomingdales!

4. Fringe, Fringe, and Fringe! Oh MY! Look, we have those days. The let-me-throw-on-my-sneakers to go out days. It happens to the most trendy of us, but fret not! These super comfy (looking) sneaks are sure to turn heads. Throw on some leggings, an oversized sweater, chunky braclets, and call it a day. Found in different colors at ALDO.

5. Oh, Oxfords! I can always count on these cute little numbers to keep my chic-on in even the worst of colds. Super sleek and shiney, perfect for the dark demin or black jean skinnies you’re dying to wear. I am personally going for a two-colored pair, black and white, of course! But these are ones you’ll want to get your hands on… quick!

6. I know, I know! I posted it, you thought it! Dare I go the Winter season without a trendy pair of flat loafers you’re SURE to pull-off at the office. Need I say more?

7. Coming in at number seven.. Combat Boots! How could we forget! This season, we’re seeing celebs such as Rihanna, Amber Rose, Miley Cyrus, & Jessica Alba Sporting this rocked-out trend! Turn any outfit into a edgy look with simble boots and studs! Here is a lovely-priced pair that can be found at Gojane.com.

8. How could this list be complete without some sky-high pumps? Color blocking is staying this winter and I could NOT be happier! I’m finding that I’m seeing a TON of Mary Janes on the horizon and I’ll add that these chic little get-ups are nicely priced at $35 bucks (buy one get one for $15!) that can be found at Charlotte Russe.

9. Folded Ankle Boots: Pick a color, pull down the flaps and go! Another pair of boots to add to the list, these comfy finds come in at number nine and are decently priced at a low $25! Find these and more at Go Jane (spend over $50 and it’s free shipping!)

10. Last but CERTAINLY not least, Lace-up Suede platforms! I’ve been keeping the cool colors around for winter and finding that these do just the job! Other colors can also be found at Go Jane!

Alright, love bugs! I hope this post will keep you up-to-date with my faves! A few that were not featured can be found here and here. Send me pictures with the latest! As always, hashtag #SocietyChic. Stay tuned for my belated “Mel’s Monday, Thing of the Week” post. Updating has been fairly nuts, so I’ll post that later on tonight. xx - M
