Do you need another social network, but for fashion?

March 1, 2012

Well kids we have one for you! is your fashion social network. Actually, its not that social networky, but we like that about it!

Svpply is a huge source of different items you can’t normally find at your ‘everyday’ stores. People publish items that are just plain awesome. You can search a certain item, look at editors picks, browse through gift guides, or just look through your feed. On Svpply you follow people just like twitter, but not 140 words, just photos of awesome fashion items, with links to BUY THEM! I mean, sometimes I’m on TUMBLR and can’t ever source back to where a specific item is from. I hate it!

Svpply is simple and easy to use. You can make an account or connect through your facebook or twitter to make it easier. Don’t feel bad if you don’t post, you can just browse your little heart out.

Check it out at

You cook & draw? Can I marry this website?

February 15, 2012

They Cook & Draw. No seriously, thats the name of the website I’d like to marry. (Cousins can marry in some states, why can’t I marry this site?)

They Cook & Draw is a website that you can find or submit illustrated recipes. By illustrated I mean, hand drawn, painted, computer generated, or all of thee above! There are so many different recipes and so many different ways they were illustrated. It’s seriously art!

I am a FOODIE! So, of course I ran by this website’s twitter on another foodies twitter. It took me a couple weeks to actually check out their website. (Just saw it Monday) But, once I saw this website I had fallin in love. I love to cook (I can’t draw that well :/) but, recipes give me anxiety. I like to just try things on my own. When I saw some of these illustrations, it made me actually want to use recipes. I wanted to be in my kitchen at that moment!

On the site you can submit your recipe or look at many others. There is even a map to check out any recipes from people in your area.

You can purchase a print or download the high res version.

There is also a section on the website named ‘Dial a Dinner‘ that can help you have the perfect dinner. From the appetizer to the desert. There are even vegetarian versions for you to choose from!

Not only do they have awesome recipes on the site, but you can also check out
their store and get the book.Old school! (I still love books people!) There are mugs, fonts (yes fonts), canvas prints, and tote bags.

Last note, if your not into cooking as much as I am, they also have a website
They Draw & Travel” (post coming soon!)

Check out some of these, but for MANY more check out their website

Is that hand-drawn leopard print on your shoes?

February 8, 2012

Why, yes, yes it is.

So it took me a couple of hours on deciding if I really wanted to share this gem of a website with our readers. (I’m selfish sometimes)
But, I finally decided that this website is just too good to not share with you all!

I give to you Slipoffs!

This site does CUSTOM hand drawn designs on blank shoes of your choice! The drawings are so profesh, it’s insane. It doesn’t look like a 5 year old had a hayday with your white vans. The artwork done on each pair is completely custom and magnificently done!

The woman behind the site is Shauna Mae Luedtke. Who is also a graphic designer, you can see her design work here.

Some of the basics about Slipoffs:

- $300 for the custom design and shoes (custom work is worth it!)
- Every pair is completely custom!
- The artist will work one-on-one with you, for perfect artwork
- Any canvas shoe can be drawn on
- She can ship anywhere in North America
- If you have a pair of shoes you can send them and get $50 off.

Everyone’s favorite thing to think about: Finances!

January 18, 2012

Don’t we all just love to think about finances? About how much money we made and how much we are paying for bills.

We don’t like it because its saddening (well for me most of the time) and sometimes stressful to keep up with your budgets and where your money is going.

Want to know a better/secure way to keep up with your finances? I found that site…. “The best free way to manage your money.”

Mint is amazing! It’s a secure way to link all of your financial accounts, set up budgets, set goals, and so many more things! Mint is easy to access and easy to use. It has an App also to keep on your iPhone. It sends out weekly budget sheets to show you how much your spending and how much you have left in your budget. It sends out alerts when your bank account is low. It does almost everything. I’d explain more, but its just to easy for you not to try!

Here are some screen shots of the interface of their website to show you how easy it is! Everyone can see some of my budget, YES, I went over on my clothing budget. Mint even sent me alerts yelling at me for doing it! HA.

DIY Project: New TV stand

January 4, 2012

As I’ve stated before, I LOVE thrifting. But, what I haven’t said before is that I love utilizing Craigslist as well! I blog a lot, and follow a lot of interior design blogs. Since I just moved back to the Tampa Bay area I have a blank canvas (new apartment) to play with.

People always ask, “How do you find this stuff? What do you search for?” I literally type in exactly what I want! If I don’t find what I’m looking for, I search for similar things or state it a different way. You have to be careful when using Craigslist, because you never know who your meeting or what they really have. But 9 out of 10 times you’ll be getting the real deal! (& meet some real characters!)

Okay, back to the DIY project. I love wood and I love industrial looking things. I’ve seen crates used for bookcases, tv stands, side tables, etc. So when I knew I was getting a new TV for the holidays (gift to myself) I knew I wanted to make the tv stand I’ve always wanted! So… I started my search on CL (short for Craigslist). I searched for wood crates, and BOOM there they were. A couple in Tampa inherited  some 500 military dynamite crates. They had about 30 left and I bought 10 for only $50. I was ecstatic! Then, I got home and opened the boxes, that wasn’t fun.

First, I’m pretty sure my neighbors thought I might be a terrorist, no joke. I was moving 10 military dynamite boxes, I mean, what would you think!? So once, I got all the boxes in my humble (aka tiny) apartment I made space for my new crate tv stand. I open the crates and there they were 4 empty boxes, fit very tightly in the crate. Then I figured out EVERY crate had 4 empty boxes in them. Thats 40 boxes I had to dispose of, not fun.

But, the crates looked amazing! I am stoked to have everything set up and it all looks great. Check out the photos below and don’t be afraid to DO IT YOURSELF.

My Keychain is Full…

December 21, 2011

Why do our keychains always end up so full? Not just full of things we may need, but usually full of things we never use. But, we keep them on there just incase.. because we never know when we may need nail clippers, am I right? Either way, I’ve come to the conclusion that I will only put keys and one jump drive (usb for you new kids) on my keychain. I am a graphic designer after all, I need the usb.

Then… one day while blogging my little heart out, I saw a post about a key called the KEYPORT. I instantly went to the website and bookmarked the page. The KEYPORT is freaking amazing!!! It is basically one big key, similar to a VW type key, but it has 6 slots you can fill. You can put your home key, work key, car key, any regular key on this thing! The kicker is… you can add accessories to your KEYPORT!

You can have:

  • Almost any type of key
  • USB port (4GB, 8GB, 16GB)
  • An LED light
  • A bottle opener
  • Your barcode for any store, garage, gym

It may be too late to have one in had before the Holidays, but you can gift one to anyone or buy one for yourself. All you have to do is follow the easy instructions on the website, it is all electronic. Go to to order one!

Thing of the Week: Foodie Edition

December 14, 2011

Okay, so ‘Thing of the week: Online Magazine’ would have probably been more appropriate. But, I had to pull all you food lovers in for a good read!

If you know me (which you probably don’t) you know I love to cook. When you love to cook, you also love to look at pretty food and try to cook that pretty food. (though, it never turns out as ‘pretty’)

Being a designer and a blogger I’m constantly on the computer. Cooking is a helpful way for me to get away and just not deal with technology. But, since I am a designer and blogger I was lucky enough to find this awesome online magazine/website called Foodie Crush.

This site is simply amazing. They recently came out with an online magazine. Not just a ‘word document’ to pdf magazine, but a nicely laid out and well designed downloadable magazine. The founder of Foodie Crush designed print magazines for 20 years! So, I’m guess that helped just a little bit.

The online magazine is free to view. You can even save to your computer to read or print out yourself. The magazine features some of the top food bloggers, recipes, pretty pictures of food and so much more (seriously, there is more than just food). It’s definitely worth a read, or at least a glance to make you hungry.

You can find the magazine here.

You can visit the website here.

You can follow Foodie Crush on twitter here.

Oh yeah, you can like Foodie Crush on Facebook here.
(I didn’t want to leave any sites out!)
