Find Your Fit!

Well tweekers I’ve done it again! I have found a great website that will help you run your sad meaningless life. Actually I’m not sure I’ve ever done that before, but I’ve done it now so thank me and be gratuitous with gifts.

Okay so like many other things in life I happened to just find this nifty little website that helps you gentlemen find stores where you can find the best fitting dress shirts. If you’re an experienced shopper you know your measurements and don’t have a problem finding dress shirts. But for those of you bums out there who wouldn’t have a clue where to start this site is for you.

Here’s the lay out of the site. Shirtfitfinder.com
screenshot1

You can choose a familiar style that you are comfortable with in order for the site to gauge what is best suited for you.
I chose H&M and size small.
screen shot2

Then you can tell the site how exactly the shirt fits you. In my case the only problem is that the neck is sometimes a bit tight.
screenshot3

The site recommended I check out Banana Republic and the measurements that I should try.

screenshot4It’s so simple a rock could do it. If rocks wore shirts. My pet rocks wear shirts. And also bowties.

But that’s neither here nor there.

That is all.

Technically Fashionable: iPhone Users

Hi, babes! So aside from wardrobe, I’m always looking for new ways to freshen up the spaces around me. Be it my office, my closet, my Nook, even my phone! One thing that will never leave my side is my iPhone 4. Android users.. your day will come. I am constantly changing my cases and screen protectors, not only for sanitary reasons (..ek!), but for the mere fact that this is one item I have to look at day in and day out. People are always asking me where I get my cases and my two contenders: Amazon.com & TJ MAXX (Marshalls, too!) I find that I am REALLY loving all of the Kate Spade iPhone cases out there.. but no case will give me the reassurance that I get with the Speck cases. I know Otter Box is the big wig around town, but try slipping that monster (secretly) in and out of your purse during a meeting, or fitting it into your very fashionably (small) clutch! Another nifty thing I like to use: Colored screen protectors! A pack at Marshalls will usually run you anywhere from $9.00 – $15.00 and come in White, Pink, Blue and a clear screen protector. Besides, not all of us were able to get our hands on the white iPhones when they were released (pouty face). Anyways, I’ve attached a few of my favorite looks. One thing I recommend to do every night before bed.. the wipedown! Germs just aren’t so fashionable these days! PLEASE, if you love a case and want to let our readers know which brand you’ve stashed away, leave it in the comments section. Until we meet again, OX – M

Waffy’s First Piece-by-Piece

Hello tweekers! I’m gonna try to do a piece by piece and hopefully I don’t mess it up like I do everything else in life. So as I was perusing the online a couple of days ago I came across a photo spread that Justin Theroux did for GQ back in October.

justin-theroux-05

Pretty much he’s channeling Al Pacino in Serpico, therefore I tried to channel Justin channeling Al. Yep we’re all on first name basis.

Anywhoooooo, just a tad bit of advice for all you tweekers. When in doubt of what to wear, surf the online and find pictures of your favorite celebs and try to put together outfits that resemble theirs. Chances are you’ll have something strikingly similar already that you can work with.

sc70s

All the things I’m wearing in the picture I had stowed away in my closet just yearning to be worn.

  • Shirt: Pacsun $15
  • Jeans: Pacsun $25
  • Boots: ALDO $67
  • Belt: I don’t remember where or how I got it stop questioning me!
  • Sunglasses: H&M $5

That is all.

From Catwalk to Sidewalk: Dsquared2

Greetings tweekers! After a week full of new adventures I’m finally able to sit down and write up a giddy little post for y’all! Okay, so let’s just get to it because I really have no filler material, and I don’t feel like coming up with anything because I’m lazy and I have ADHD , so I can’t be sitting here for too long.

Two of my favorite men in fashion are Dean and Dan Caten. These men are not only twin brothers but also the masterminds of their designer label, Dsquared2. The look we have today comes from their spring/summer 2012 line.
DSQUARED2-1-G_1927216a

This is from Dsquared2 2011 Milan Fashion Week show

d2
I’ve taken the look and broken it down for y’all and also found less expensive alternatives.

Blazer (you’ll want to splurge on this) :

  • From Moschino $290

Chinos:

  • From H&M $29.95

Scarf:

  • From H&M $12.95

Shirt:

  • From H&M $12.95

Sandals:

  • From ALDO $34.99

Well Tweekers there you have your fix for now. Remember that you ca always stray from the concept as far as colors are concerned. Instead of the pastel colored  jacket you can always do a navy blazer with a patterned or bold colored shirt underneath.

That is all.

Everyone’s favorite thing to think about: Finances!

Don’t we all just love to think about finances? About how much money we made and how much we are paying for bills.

NO WE DON’T.

We don’t like it because its saddening (well for me most of the time) and sometimes stressful to keep up with your budgets and where your money is going.

Want to know a better/secure way to keep up with your finances? I found that site…. MINT.com. “The best free way to manage your money.”

Mint is amazing! It’s a secure way to link all of your financial accounts, set up budgets, set goals, and so many more things! Mint is easy to access and easy to use. It has an App also to keep on your iPhone. It sends out weekly budget sheets to show you how much your spending and how much you have left in your budget. It sends out alerts when your bank account is low. It does almost everything. I’d explain more, but its just to easy for you not to try!

Here are some screen shots of the interface of their website to show you how easy it is! Everyone can see some of my budget, YES, I went over on my clothing budget. Mint even sent me alerts yelling at me for doing it! HA.

Dear Mel: Bag Trends of 2012

Hi, Babes! Happy Friday! So, I’ll start by saying that I am ALWAYS getting messages about different looks and questions on better buys for several things. I absolutely LOVE your feedback, fun mail and everything in between. Recently, I’ve come across a few questions that I not only answer, but love to showcase on here because they are questions I feel that other readers would like to know. So I’d like to open the can of worms and ENCOURAGE you to write us about any fashion, beauty, trend, home décor, review question that you might have. We will always conceal your identity, if needed! Just find the Contact Us page or click HERE.

So, for our “Thing of the Week” and without further a due..

Dear Mel,
It’s a new year and that means change! So… with that said, I need your help! I am in the market to buy a new purse. My question is what are the trends for 2012 and how can I not go broke looking stylish?
Love Always,
A bag lover in Tampa Bay

________________________________________________________

Dear Bag Lover,

This year I am excited to share with you my VERY favorite trends popping up all over the runways and tabloids. I’ll get to that below… However, my advice when looking for frugally fabulous bags would be to save a day where you can spend some time in Ross, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory, or TJ MAXX. In order to find REALLY great steals, you have to commit the time to search through the racks! I tend to stay away from these stores on the weekends and try to use my lunch hour or days off to go during the day. You will thank yourself in the long run! And one key thing I’ve always known is that if you find a great buy and leave it to come back to it at a later time, odds are it won’t be there when you get back! Also, if you’re comfortable shopping online, I’d recommend going to sites like Baghaus, Lulus, or ASOS. These sites show different views (and close-ups) of the bag and usually have a model with the bag (for you to determine size). Anyways, I’ve attached my favorite looks this season and I hope it brings peace to your shopping experience. Talk to you soon! OX! – M

Gilty Pleasure: Best Bets Under $50 and Other Friday Goodies

Hey tweekers! So I’m still trying to figure out how to bring you the best that Gilt has to offer, because if you’ve visited and joined the site you know that their sales start at noon and everything gets sold out quickly. Lets see if this approach works.

Ok so to start off let me just say that when you “preview” the sales beforehand rprices aren’t posted and sometimes only a couple items or promotional work is shown.

On Friday 1/13/2012 these are the sales that commence.
orig
Best bets under $50:

As described on the site “Our roundup of great picks under $50 is all about elevating your style without devastating your wallet. So whether you’re looking to fill a gap in your wardrobe — or to rebuild it entirely — we’ve got what you need to kit yourself out without breaking the bank.”

orig-1The Basics Shop:

As described on the site “When it comes to building a great wardrobe, start with the basics. We’ve got a selection of go-to pieces here — from underwear and socks to shirts and dress shoes — that’ll set you on the road to a properly outfitted closet.”

orig-2
Casual Friday:

As describe on the site “Gentlemen, for the sake of all that is good in this world, please heed our words: Casual Friday is not the time to bust out your billowy old chinos and a promotional polo shirt. It’s the time to show the workplace what you’re really made of — in a sartorial sense, of course. Get all the gear you need to do it right in this sale.”

Well tweekers, hope that helps satisfy your fix. Love that I can help enable your addictions. Remember rehab is for quitters.

-That is all.

Waffy’s Word: Sunglasses

Hey there tweekers! It’s been a hectic time lately for my brain. I got kind of lost and sidetracked for a moment and ended up in Narnia. I was warned to not let my alter ego Waffy Lohan get in the way of my postings, but of course neither of us listen.

Buts alas, here I am in a semi clear state of mind ready to bring you this post of the ONE THING I completely and absolutely live for.

SUNGLASSES!

OMG, I love love love love sunglasses. I cannot stress enough how essential sunglasses are to my life. I feel naked being in public without my sunglasses.

Now, this post is just a tad different in that instead of focusing on a certain pair of sunglasses or bringing you great deals on them (which will still be done) I’m going to offer my philosophy and views on this must have, can’t live without accessory.

Ok, so first of all let me say that I absolutely live in my own world where I’m the star of my own life. It’s a tad delusional but I honestly believe that I am some kind of messiah brought upon this earth to bestow my beauty and knowledge amongst the mere mortals that inhibit this solemn planet.

Yes, I know im full of it, but humor me. Ok so I love sunglasses because i LITERALLY wear them ALL THE TIME. I can’t drive my car unless I have a pair of sunglasses on, I can’t walk anywhere in public unless my eyes are concealed, and heaven forbid someone look me directly in the eyes. Sunglasses are also the answer to hangovers. I mean slap on a pair of sunglasses on your mug and it’s like you’re refreshed and ready to take on whatever the day bombards you with.

I generally don’t like interacting or socializing with people when I don’t have to so when in public I always maintain a stoic facial expression as well as a big ‘ol pair of glasses on. Yes, I think I’m related to Victoria Beckham.

Anywhoooo, there are a couple of key things to remember when buying sunglasses. First of all take into consideration the shape of your face. I of course can pull most styles off, and for me the bigger the better. Here’s a quick guide to help you on your journey into super sunglass stardom.

guide

Rectangle:

Rectangular or oblong faces need frames that are wider. It’ll help your face not look quite so Humpty Dumpty like. Your faces is rectangular if it’s longer that it is wide.

Round:

Whatever for the life of you and those around you, DO NOT wear any round frames. Look for frames that are as wide as the widest part of your face. Any thing round or small will just make your head look like a globe.

Oval:

Praise the high heavens if you have an oval face. You have the face that everyone wants. Pretty much you have the birkin of faces. Your face can handle any style so don’t be afraid try anything on.

Square:

For this face shape you’ll want to choose frames that curve your face. Frames thar are round will be your best friends.

Diamond:

For a diamond face you’ll want to choose oval like frames. It’s highly likely that you have high cheekbones if you gave a diamond shaped face so also go for slightly bigger frames.

Heart:

You’ll want to choose frames that have a straight top line. These kind of glasses will balance out your face.

Oh and lastly, seeing as I tend to lose and break every pair of glasses I’ve ever had I don’t spend much money on them. I don’t usually buy brand name sunglasses. Certain retailers have great sunglasses for anywhere from $10-$15.

There you have it tweekers. Now set forth and spread Waffy’s word.
